Classic Salmon – First attempts

It has been quiet here on the blog for a while: I have been busy with a worktrip to India, and these days I keep stocking up for my go-to patterns for the summers two week trout trip. But: inbetween I get to experiment a bit with classic atlantic salmon flies. I got a big order with turkey, mallard, ara and other good stuff the other day, mostly I will begin with these later in the autumn/winter, but I had to tie up a couple of flies when I opened the package! The plan was to do green highlander, and this is almost there, the green turkey for the married wing was not long enough, so I had to freestyle a bit over the pattern.

A lot to put my fingers on for these two, but from a tying perspective this was a very interesting exercise and I look forward to practicing a lot on this later this year.
